Class Description:
Capture the quiet beauty of a winter sunset in wax.
In this encaustic class, we’ll create an intimate 8×8 winter landscape inspired by one of my own paintings. Snow-covered pine trees rise from a soft blanket of winter white, set against a warm, coppery sky that gives the feeling of the last light of a winter sunset.
Using beeswax, pigment, and heat, I’ll guide you through building your landscape layer by layer as we explore color, texture, depth, and the beautiful translucent qualities that make encaustic such a unique medium.
The smaller format gives us an opportunity to slow down and focus on the little details that bring a landscape to life—from the texture of snow-covered branches to the glow of the sky behind the trees.
No encaustic experience is necessary. Come explore, experiment, and create your own miniature winter landscape—a small work of art filled with the warmth and quiet of the season.
